Eh doesnt concern the UK right now.

Britain is very likely leaving the EU, but there are two things that I think will happen:

Greece removed from EU, Left wing party thats gaining power there rise up and take control

Greece not removed from EU, causes another recession among EU countries and puts Ireland, Italy and Portugal back in debt.

yeah i think greece will be removed to stop econmic termoral and this would help because Germany can focus it money on more permanite problems and problems on not to hate but on important countries bounce

I was actually talking about this with my parents and my girlfriend, who is half Greek. Greece has debts that they do not want to pay for. Either they make a drastic change to meet those debts, or they are thrown out of the EU. Either way, it is their own fault and it appears they are having a hard time accepting it. The good thing about them leaving the EU, aside from the fact that it would stop holding the other countries down, is that they will go back to Drachma and everything will be cheap again. Very Happy Doesn't matter to me though how the EU is doing. I live in Switzerland, we are only allies of EU, not a direct part of it.

I always used to think of Switzerland as being in Scandinavia - it confused me when I realised it was east of France. scratch

One of the most interesting countries (interesting in a weird way) is Greenland. It's about the size of Africa but you never hear anything about it, and rarely even notice it on a map. Shocked

Because greenland is scarsely inhabited, because most of the central area's are just Glaciers... And under those Glaciers you have frozen lakes If I remember...

I believe it's still part of Norway as well

Oh and it's part of north America

Your guy's Geography....

Switzerland is not part of Scandinavia, biggest geographical misconception... and we do not speak Swedish. You speak Swiss-German, Swiss-French, Swiss-Italian and Raeto-roman. All of which derive from the original languages, just altared into a shortened version. I live in the German part of Switzerland.

Russia is the biggest country... how could you fuck that one up?

Greenland and Iceland are named that way because the Vikings who first lived in Iceland told the foreigners that so they would go to Greenland, instead of their homeland, Iceland. Greenland is the icy land and Iceland is the green land. Interestingly, Greenland belongs to Denmark, not Norway and North America. How could it belong to two places anyway?

I mean it's classified as the continent of north America :p

But yeah, interestingly enough Denmark used to also own an island, as did Sweden in the windward islands, which are just a bit north of Brazil

No I just know my geography and one of our subjects in school contained the history of Greenland. Razz

Greenland might be on the map of North America (The layout is more efficient than if it were depicted with Europe.), but Greenland is under the Government of Denmark, and aside from the majority being the Inuits, the second major language is Danish.

Officially the most western part of Europe is in Portugal, so it cannot be Greenland

Greenland is in the continent of North America, but still 'belong to' Denmark, located in Europe. Take for example the Falkland Islands, which are located in South America but still 'belong to' the UK, located in Europe.

Researched Greenland the other day (study lesson in college isn't that exciting) - there are no roads between towns, you either have to sail around the coast or get a plane scratch

Now that would be pretty funny, if all the countries that the UK still owns (I.e. Australia, New Zealand, Falklands, Bermuda and British Virgin Islands) would all classify as europe because the UK owned them Razz

That would also mean Canada, South Africa and India would have all been part of Europe, and Hong Kong was part of Europe until 1999.

The U.K doesn't own those countries, the Queen does, as they're in the Commonwealth - so she has more power than the UK Government on a global basis (or at least she would do if it was not largely just symbolic).
The British Oversea Territories still 'owned' by the UK are: Anguilla; Bermuda; British Antarctic Territories; British Inidan Ocean Territory; British Virgin Isles; Cayman Isles; Falkland Islands; Gibraltar; Montserrat; Pitcairn Islands; Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha; South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands; Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia; Turks and Caicos Islands.

In other news, the Spanish monarchy have now fallen out with us over our ownership of Gibraltar, much like Argentina have with the Falkland Islands.

You forget the two biggest nations who still recognize the Queen as their sovereign, Australia and New Zealand Razz

The countries I listed are the ones owned by the UK Government; Australia, Canada and New Zealand have their own government but their queen is Queen Elizabeth II - basically, the Queen 'rules' more land than the UK Government does.

Oh an odd one to argue is Nepal, as we use their soldiers, their soldiers are stationed in Afghanistan as the British Ghurka rifles, yet Nepal is a country that does not even acknowledge the Queen as their sovereign.
