Okay, so for a long time now I haven't been able to actually use the rotation mod (I suck with technology), so I thought I'd ask for some help...

Rotation mod... Rmod10

This is where I just tried to place it, but after putting it there I could no longer select anything whilst playing an Age of Mythology game (a problem which keeps recurring whenever I download it). Even if I then uninstall the mod, I still can't click any units and thus have to system restore to just before placing the mod there.

Any help? Very Happy

A) Do you use Vista? B) It look's to me that there are no other files. Why is that? "https://s1096.photobucket.com/albums/g331/lava799/?action=view&current=ehem.jpg"

Yeah, it is a Vista - the picture was like that because I pasted the entire zip folder into the 'startup', and was showing the contents of it. Rolling Eyes

Anyway, I've been fiddling for ages and I've actually got it working right now, hopefully it won't mess up again. Shocked

Ehh, You need to un-zip the folder to change the file... Neutral

Note: You don't just place a new file; You are asked if you want to replace the existing gamex.con file with the new one you downloaded containing the rotation mod. Wink

I have never heard of both of them being in the folder. If you are able to do that maybe that is why you can't do anything whilst playing the game. Game script overload due to two gamex.con files being used. xD

if you look at the side it say's "Startup" and inside it "Ability to bla bla bla" You need to un-zip the file for it to take effect.

You mean the downloaded file? You just get it as a rar. file. I unpacked it and just took the gamex.con file inside it, copied it, and pasted it into its respective AoM folder, upon which it asked me to replace it. I have done it that way everytime and everyone I play with on AoM can testify that it works for me. Wink

That is a way to do it, but i just get the Un-zip window and simply un-zip the files into startup. works fine.

Well, Mitty, if you have problems with one technique, try the other way. I can imagine that if you unzip/unpack the folder directly into the startup, you replace the one file, but you add other unnecessary files. I don't think those AoM folders and their primitive 10-year old scripting (Wink) are made to have other junk in them that isn't part of the game or mod.

I would just play it safe while installing mods and only do what it says on the readme or just add/replace the essential files. I assume it didn't screw up your game yet, so I guess its working right now in any case. Very Happy

Uh-huh, all is good for the time being; thanks both of you anyway, if it mucks up I'll take another look at this thread. Very Happy
