1 Continuous RP Map on Mon Apr 02, 2012 3:11 am

Hey everyone. So I was playing WRP like usual and we came up with an idea:

After I had built my place, I jokingly said I would once play WRP alone, build my place the way I want it, save the game and make it into a scenario. I could host the map and be done at the start. Lava, who was also in the game, also joked, saying he would do the same. That gave me an idea.

This would be simple. In order to this, one person would host the game, comp the slots and build his/her area. After saving the game and turning it into a scenario, the next person would do the same. To keep the authenticity of the RP, I would like the building to be done while playing the map, so no editor tricks. Suspect Anyway, the thing is, everyone takes a different slot, so the host would have to always be the same and host it for the next builder. I would like to play the "HoRC card" and be the supervisor for this map and host it for the other RPers, because I don't mind sitting back and watching. Very Happy

The continuous RP will revolve around Hades' Corinth RP, so he will most likely dominate the central area of the map. I already have three players listed and will welcome 1-2 more big builders and 2-3 small builders. We need to vote on the map, and figure out where each person is building. Listed are already:

I will start on my part of the map once we have determined enough things, i.e. which map and if I am alone or not in the Norselands. Oh, and Hades, you need to explain to me how to turn a saved game into a scenario. I forgot while I was gone. Embarassed

Well, The reason I joked about doing it is because I planned to do it on Editor to edit the east corner because atm, it's not suitable in my eyes. So.. yea..

We can discuss that after we have determined the map, because we might not even take that version. I take it your vote is v.20 then?

I was playing with Terrae yesterday, 5:30 hour long 2 person RP by the way. The second best RP I've had so far. Anyway, he has informed me that he won't be on again for awhile. He hopes that we will be able to keep AoM going.

Clean WRP map, which I can do easily, it may also be an idea to make a similar variant on the HoR WRP map once thats finished as well Razz

Exactly, And anyway as it stands for the Roman RP to start Me and Hades need to RP the killing of the Roman emperor/king (whatever) and the taking over of Vetaran Neutral

What said about editor was not that you can't edit the map, I meant that when we have a map chosen or made or whatever, that when we build, we can't go into the editor and mash the buildings closer together or make them bigger or smaller and stuff like that. I meant that we make our city like any RP, in the game. Don't twist my words. Neutral

Which part? Oh, by the way, I downloaded nottud's ultimate superpack. I hope that was the correct one. It's pretty helpful. I just have to figure out how to navigate it alittle. Especially when opening a scenario to do in the editor. You just need to tell me how to make a savegame into a scenario.

Well that's the beauty of it. We can keep switching off. All we have to do is make sure that we all have the most recent before starting to edit. We also need to make sure only one person edits at a time.

So the latest CWRP map wasn't working online and TheAoMExpert could not fix it. I guess we will not continue with that map. The map saved as "CWRP1 Hades edits.scx" still works as far as I know.

If you guys want to continue, Hades, finish your part and I will redo mine. I figured out how to make the trigger loop the correct way so starting in a different age will not render the map useless online. The trigger that made my area go to classical age wasn't even the problem. It worked before when I showed Lava the map once. I think what happened is that one of the triggers bugged without it being seen and then when I saved the game, the bug was saved, so the affected trigger never worked properly.

If Hades says he is done with his part again, I will download the map from him, we will play the game, reassuring the fact that it is online-friendy and I will restart building. I will slowly and carefully build it again, making sure it remains online-friendly and saving often under different file names. If the problem comes back, I will swallow my pride and redo my areas a third time with editor.

I don't think so. Lava and I need to go over the map together because we will get rid of one part of the Norselands for his big city.

Alright, so we have made some changes.

First of all, we will use the V22 map, the absence of snow drifts and the addition of animals are good qualities. The only person to make something was Hades, and you said it wouldn't be a problem to rebuild it.

Lava will be building in the left and right corner, connecting the two by use of UW and considering it one city. I like that idea by the way. It forces the other players to be more flexible with the fact that that map is not simply North/East/South/West. We could figure out a nice eyecandy-way to join the two with passages if the UWs stick out too much.

Now for the part near the marsh on the right corner of the map; We will be taking out the Olmypian Tile/Snow mountain with the rounded cliffs and making it a transition from grass/highland to norse/snowland. Zwet made an observation not too long ago which I am going to try out. Anyway, The city template will be extended, making it maybe twice as large so Lava can make the city, I will remove the marsh pieces in between the cliffs. I will also remove the acid pools. The transition from the highlands to the norselands will be like the small mountains/hills that you see north of the right corner city template, with snow covered peaks closer to the norselands (Zwet's suggestion).

Now, another remark of his that I can benefit from: Why is there a Hell? Especially when there is no "Heaven". Hardly anyone ever uses it and in the last 20 WRPs I played, no one used it, except for me when I got Gaia. xP

I said I would remove a part of it to add to the Norselands and put a city template, but when I tried it the way I had planned, there was still not enough room. My idea is to completely remove Erebus now and make it a part of the Norselands, which is fitting, seeing as I took out a big part of it to make more grass/highlands for lava.

I will edit the €€€€€€€€€WRPv22NEWERCOASTagentadkiller.scx map for the new CWRP map. Hades, is it possible to copy terrain? If so, it will be easier to remake your city area quickly.

You also said that saving a game and making it into a scenario only works if the terrain is not changed?! I don't know how that would be a problem.

I didn't change terrain so much, it would take 5 mins to redo but it's the building that will take time.
