Does anybody know how active Voobly and Gameranger are, and whether they are more active than ESO? I don't want to move to them, i'm just wondering as more and more people seem to be switching over.

I do not know myself, however I have already stated that we will be making a move to Voobly if ESO gets shut down. I hope we will be able to carry RolePlay over to there Smile

Voobly is essentially the same as Gameranger, it runs alternate servers for AoM.

Yeah, they're basically like ESO but allow you to play AoM games off of the ESO server.

I asked someone during a game who is a frequent user of Voobly and Gameranger. He informed me that the numbers are less on average. During the better hours, the numbers on ESO/MSG is around 150-200 people while both Voobly and Gameranger have around 70-80, but more advanced setup games are hosted on both Voobly and Gameranger and they fill up fast enough.

That being said, you can see that the people on Voobly and Gameranger are more into playing games than chilling/spamming in the chatrooms. I was also told that it is a more competitive atmosphere. It might not be such a bad idea for HoR to stick a foot in the door if we still want to be a commune clan.

I did not ask, however, if you can make new names. I assume if it is a new server altogether, we would need to make new names unless the accounts somehow work on both. I do not have Voobly yet, but I am ready to switch to it anytime if need be.

Yes you can create new accounts as they are alternate servers, they connect through the game by going into LAN/Direct IP but reroute it so that you are actually going through voobly/gameranger, its quite clever

Anyway, as I said Voobly is the official backup server for HoR, and we will indefinately move there once ESO is down.

You can make new accounts, but can you keep your old ones? Could I log in with my HoRC_Earl_Yankee and x_Yankee_x accounts? I wouldn't need to log in with the Earl one seeing as I am a Lord now, but still. Razz

Alright, spill the beans. ;P

Is Gameranger for more serious players who play rated games?
Can one make accounts and use former ESO ones?
How many people are on during good hours on average?
Ever see any hint of WRP or RPing in general?

Cool
